How sold cars are detected
Each site is checked once a day and every listing ID is recorded.
A car missing for 1 day is
missing
. It may be reserved or a glitch.
A car missing for 2 checks in a row is
sold
. Its sold date is the first day it was missing.
If the same make, model and year comes back within 7 days as a new ID with near-identical mileage, it's marked
relisted
, not sold.
If a check returns far fewer cars than usual (under 60% of the recent median), that day is ignored so a broken check can't look like a sell-off.
Cars already listed on the first tracked day have an unknown start date and are left out of days-to-sell figures.
